Yes, because if "The Thief Lord" didn't steal the stuff, he and his "gang" could starve to death ( but I don't think they could die of thirst considering the fact that they live right next to a canal, but the fact if the canal's dirty or not is something I don't know) because they were out of money and so they needed the stuff they stole to sell it to a fat man with a red beard called Ernesto Barbarossa (who used to be a thief so the thief lord would probably have no stress about accusation). If the Thief Lord hadn't stole all those objects, his "gang" could be in big trouble of hunger, sickness (if they didn't have money then they can't buy medecine) or filthy bodies (where do you think they can take a shower or brush their teeth, the canal? They'll likely just get run over by boats so that's why they might have to buy some water tanks). That's my opinion of why the Thief lord needs to steal. To save his band of "followers" and himself from all kinds of danger.

i think that it is both yes and no. Because if Scipio did not steal then he would be lack of something. But it is wrong. It is not correct to steal stuff.

I also think that the answer would be yes and no because if Skipio wouldnt steal stuff the orphaned kids which include Bo and Prosper wouldnt have food, money, and clothes and they would have a hard life. Its is also wrong because stealing wouldnt be a nice thing to do and if you get caught you would be send to jail it is also against the law.

:) I really agree with Wow Wow, Fong, and Mint:) I would have thought like that to. I USED to think that Even if Scipio is in danger of being caught by the police, he was very brave and helped his friends. Sometimes, in order to do something better, you have to sacrifice( umm... I'm not so sure if this is the right word but my meaning is lose) something that is pleasurable to you, like play time or computer games. I THOUGHT that Scipio was very heroic and put himself in danger for others. Even if stealing is bad,and he shouldn't do it, you have to do it. Its steal or die. Well maybe not die, but thats not my point. I mean they could just beg or something right? That's more better, but if they did, the police will get Riccio, Victor will hand in Prosper and Bo, and Scipio- imagine what you would think if the son of a rich person was begging on the side of a road. Hmm... anyways did you notice that I used the words USED and THOUGHT? Well NOW, I think that what Scipio did was wrong. Well with a bit of right in it but it was mostly wrong. Ok, it was right for Scipio to help his friends because before they were living in a very dirty place, and they almost could't survive(I'd tell you about that but I didn't bring the book home:( because if I did, I would probably end up reading the whole book:) It's sooo FUN!!). Anyways, Scipio should have been honest to his friends. You know, they say honesty is the best policy after all. Also Scipio got his nanny fired and I'm sure it was not appreciated. Also, he stole from his own house. It said in the book(which I can't tell you exactly) that Scipio felt that he is not treated properly in his house. Some kids steal just because they want their parents attention so I think that is the case here. After all, the book said that Scipio's dad was very busy. Ok, so that is what I think:)

I think it’s both yes and no. It was right because if Scipio (The thief lord) don’t steal, he will don’t have any money, food, and cloth. Also his purpose is not to stealing for keeping it to him but he steal because he tried to save his group and for him to stay alive. He also did a wrong thing. He made his nanny fired also he steal those stuff from his house.
